The day started off with bad luck for the Dutch. One of their best horses Duval's Capri Sonne Jr., last year's bronze medallist, was not fit to compete. Due to a minor injury he didn't pass the vet-check this morning.

The first qualifier for the six year old dressage horses started this morning with the last year's World Champion Sa Coeur (Sir Donnerhal I x Don Davidoff). Eva Möller rode a faultless test with the sympatic gelding. Sa Coeur could be more uphill but was very loose and showed a perfect walk. The pair got the highest marks so far by the judges Judet (FRA), Van Daele (BEL), Zang (USA) and Phillips (GBR): 9.0 (trot) – 9.6 (walk) – 8.8 (canter) – 9.0 (submission) – 9.3 (general impression), total score of 9.14 points, second place in the Qualifier.

The Rheinland-bred stallion Lord Carnaby (by Lord Loxley x Rocket Star) was a a striking horse. Although a bit short in the neck he showed uphill and elastique gaits. Beatrice Buchwald from Germany rode the impressive stallion to 9.08 points.

The second group was won by Sandiego (Sancisco x Davignon I) (8.98). Carola Koppelmann and the Mecklenburger gelding were highly rewarded in walk and canter and got 9.2 for general impression. The Oldenburg gelding Diamigo (Dimaggio x Freudenprinz) was a notable horse in the second group. The horse ridden by Helen Langehanenberg moved powerful and got only 8.06 points.

The bay gelding is an elegant, blood-type horse with a light-footed and tactful trot (9.4), a very good walk (9.0) and strong, uphill canter (9.8). The whole test had an uphill tendancy and everything looked easy. Total score 9.28. In the end this was the winning score.
