Pony European Championships in Arezzo, Italy

In the last week of July, from Tuesday 23rd to Sunday 28th, the Arezzo Equestrian Centre will host the most important event in European events for ponies with the European Championships. Show jumping, three-day eventing and dressage are the disciplines included in the programme of competitions leading up to the presentation of the titles and medals. The Organizing Committee and the Italian Federation for Equestrian Sports have been at work for some time to prepare an unforgettable event. The seventheen countries that have confirmed their participation are Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Denmark, Holland, Poland, Switzerland, Great Britain, Norway, Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Ireland, Spain, Russia and Italia. It will be an exciting event starring the equestrian world's youngest riders!

Thirty-two acres, 118,000 square meters of sports facilities, 3 sand arenas with one in grass (1.8 hectares) considered among the best in the world, 4 work areas including one covered (70x30) and 400 boxes for guests . The Arezzo Equestrian Centre is one of the most prestigious competitive structures at European level. In 2004 it hosted the Italian leg of the Global Champions Tour and since 2010 has hosted 30 competitions of the federal programme every year. Since October 2010, the site management is entrusted to Holmo srl, conducted by Riccardo Boricchi and Carlo Bernardini, who planned a large project of revival and renewal of the structure. The Arezzo Equestrian Centre was created in 1999 with the idea and passion of Ita Marzotto, who bought the Equestrian Club Aretino (1 hectare). Over the years it has also transformed into the Arezzo Equestrian Centre. AEC is home to many top events such as: Tuscany Tour, Global Champions Tour, Rider's Tour, Equestrian Style, Pony Mania, CSIO Junior and Young Riders, Pony CSIO, Italian Championship, Final Circuit FISE-ASSI young horses and other events such as the Italian Quarter Horse Championship and the Italian Driving Championship. Arezzo Equestrian Centre is the new reality of equestrian sports, a meeting point for people who love the world of the horse, for the simple enthusiasts and for anyone who desiring to link their image to one of the most exclusive, elegant and refined circuits of sporting events in Italy.

German dressage team without big surprises

The Dressage Committee of the DOKR has nominated the following pairs:

Helen Langehanenberg with the stallion Damon Hill NRW, Kristina Sprehe with Desperados FRH, Anabel Balkenhol with Dablino FRH and Isabell Werth aboard Don Johnson FRH.

First reserve is Fabienne Lüttkemeier with D'Agostino, the second reserve is Nadine Capellmann and Girasol.

Swiss team for the Europeans

The Swiss Dressage squad consists of two experienced combinations, Marcela Krinke Susmelj/Smeyers Molberg and Hans Staub/Warbeau, and two newcomers: Caroline Häcki aboard Rigoletto Royal CH and Melanie Hofmann with GB Cazzago C CH.

Norwegian dressage team for EC Herning

The combinations are:

Lillian Jebsen (picture) riding Pro-Set, Camilla Kalseth riding Carte D'Or, Ellen Birgitte Fabrot riding Tailormade Akon Askelund, Cathrine Rasmussen riding Fernandez.

Danish dressage squad

The Danish team consists of the following combinations:

Anna Kasprzak – Donnperignon, Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein – Digby, Andreas Helgstrand – Akeem Foldager and Lone Bang Larsen – Fitou L

The reserve riders will be Lisbet Seierskilde on Jonstrupgaardens Raneur, Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard on Nintendo and Lars Petersen on Mariett.

The British team with Hester and Uthopia

The European Championships will see once again the British team that won the Olympic dressage gold. Charlotte Dujardin (Valegro), Carl Hester (Uthopia) and Laura Tomlinson (Mistral Hojris) will be joined by Michael Eilberg (Half Moon Delphi) to compete in Denmark from August 20th to 25th.

French Dressage team

The French team consist of the following combinations:

Jessica Michel and Riwera de Hus, Karen Tebar with Florentino, Claire Gosselin with Karamel de Lauture and Marc Boblet with Noble Dream Concept Sol.

The two reserves: Ludovic Henry and After You, Arnaud Serre and Robinson de Massa.

Olympic contestant Morgan Barbancon with Painted Black is not on the team, she did not start the stallion since the Olympics in London.

The Dutch team

The members of the Dutch team will be announced on Sunday, after the Dutch Championships held in Hoofddorp these days. Jerich Parzival does not appear to the start during the Championships, but he is likely to be fit for the European Championships in Herning.

Australian National Dressage Squad

Following strong performances at the recent Sydney CDI3*, Queensland's Sheridyn Ashwood (VDL Prestige) joins the national program on the 2013 Elite Squad, as does Australian Dressage Champion and 2012 Equestrian Australia domestic athlete of the year Maree Tomkinson (Diamantina) who moves from the A squad onto the elite squad.
